The Asbestos Summit, Nov. 1998
SAEPEJ has compiled essential information such as laws and regulations on asbestos in the US and parts of Europe, alternatives, scientific studies and related illnesses for the National Asbestos Summit called by the Parliamentary Committee on Environment. We had extensive communications with some of the leading experts on asbestos and sent information daily to the organizing sub-committee via email. The National Asbestos Summit could affect future policies on the mining and use of asbestos in South Africa. Our counterparts on this initiative are the Environmental Monitoring Group and the Legal Resources Center.
