BBC News Reports on 2004 Air Quality Exchange Partners (Winter 2004)

This past fall, the the BBC News featured two in-depth reports on two communities that participated in groundWork's March 2004 Air Quality Exchange. Both Port Arthur, Texas and South Durban have been deeply affected by the dynamics of racial segregation and industrial production. Those these communities are on almost opposite sides of the planet, environmental racism - when decisions relating to environmental concerns directly or indirectly impact communities of color, often threatening the environment to benefit decision-makers - is evident in each context.
